Despite lingering concerns over the future of the Eurozone, the fourth quarter brought good news for buy-to-let investors.

Competition amongst lenders keeps a lid on buy-to-let mortgage rates.


Average rental yield

Up 0.8% to 6.9% in Q4 2011, from 6.2% in Q3 2011.

Average loan size
Down 12.4%: £132,705 in Q4 2011, from £151,413 in Q3 2011.

Average loan to value (LTV)
Down 2.0% to 63.4% in Q4 2011, from 65.4% in Q3 2011.

Demand for fixed rate mortgages
During Q4 2011, 52% of buy-to-let mortgage applications received by ludlowthompson
Mortgages were for fixed rate products, up from just 38% in Q3 and 41% in quarter two.
