Property Types & Architecture
An area still dominated by old industrial buildings, fifties, sixties and seventies terraces and council blocks interspersed with new-build flats overlooking the docks, Canning Town has been earmarked as part of a £3.7 billion regeneration programme currently in progress, set to bring 10,000 new homes as well as an improved town centre, community facilities, primary schools and new streets.

Shopping & Entertainment
Home to ExCeL London, the international exhibition and convention centre Canning Town is not currently a destination for shopping and eating out, with only a handful of restaurants in the area. The Westfield centre at Stratford however is only a couple of stops away on the Jubilee Line and offers more than most could need for both shopping and restaurants. Canary Wharf and other redeveloped docklands areas can offer many upmarket restaurants, bars, hotels and shopping centres nestled around really attractive riverside walks and marinas. And for those who not only like to live by the water but also like to play in it visit Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre which offers a whole host of activities.

Parks & Commons
There are a surprising number of green spaces in E16, perfect for relaxing or keeping fit as well as a large number of football pitches for those budding footballers. As well as football pitches Canning Town Recreation Ground also boasts a tennis court, multi-use games court and a children’s play area. Similar facilities can also be found at Keir Hardie Recreation Ground, Lyle Park and Star Park. Also nearby is Newham City Farm which focuses on raising rare breeds and unusual animals, such as llamas and wallabies. And for an enjoyable stroll head to Bow Creek Ecology Park, a small linear park on a peninsula formed by a bend in the River Lea featuring small streams, interlinked ponds and meadows and part of Lee Valley, with its wealth of outdoor and nature activities.
