January signals a busy time for the property market; prospective sellers should get prepared to avoid missing out
One of the property market’s busiest periods of the year is only weeks away. Potential house sellers need to get prepared quickly to avoid missing out, particularly as competition is expected to be fierce in 2022.
Rightmove anticipates a significant increase in homeowners selling their properties in 2022. With more homes up for sale, competition is expected to be tough next year so house sellers should make sure they are one step ahead of the rest and now is the ideal time to list.
Last year, there were more than 51 million visits to Rightmove between Boxing Day and January 4th, a 54% increase on the previous year. At this time of year, visits to property websites typically peak.
Interested sellers therefore need to be ready to spring into action if they are to avoid missing out on the high online traffic that takes place over the holidays and to exploit one of the busiest buying periods of the year, which is fast approaching.
Many potential sellers are already responding. There has been a 19% increase in the number of home-owners this month who have begun the selling process compared to last year. In anticipation of a busy January, sellers have begun preparations to get their properties on the market as early as possible, just in time for the new year.
Taking action now is prudent, particularly as buyers are likely to have more choice on offer in the next 12 months.
