I want to sell a property I currently have let out to tenants. How do I go about this with the tenants still living there?
If you are looking to sell the property while the tenants are still within the timeframe of the tenancy agreement you will need to speak with the tenants to explain the situation. If you are selling the property to someone who wants to buy the property with tenants then there may be no upheaval for the tenants. It is likely the existing tenancy agreement would be honoured for the remainder of the tenancy.
As a landlord it may also be worth considering offering the existing tenants a reduction in rent in order for full cooperation in keeping the house in good order while the viewings take place or alternatively you could offer the tenants compensation to terminate the tenancy early and vacate the property at a time that suits you.
