The run up to Christmas has now been identified as the new boom period for moving house.
In recently released data Alliance & Leicester has identified that 22% of all home moves take place during the 12 weeks before Christmas, with one in 12 buyers willing to move in December.
Though Christmas is traditionally an expensive time, 10% had saved earlier in the year to finance the move, one in ten planned to cut back on their spending to help finance a move, while 2% said they would be rely on their credit cards to finance the Christmas spending.
Commenting on the data, Stephen Leonard of Alliance & Leicester says: “It is very encouraging to see many people are planning ahead to budget for their moving costs and saving in advance to ensure it doesn’t have a big impact on their Christmas. Clearly planning ahead, budgeting and saving is the key to a less stressful move.”
