Many landlords are unaware of their responsibilities with regard to the switchover to digital television.
The National Landlords Association believes that two thirds of landlords are unaware that they are legally responsible for ensuring tenants have digital TV capability if their property relies on a communal television system. The switchover is due to take place on a phased basis between 2008 and 2012.
The NLA’s research also showed that of those landlords who were aware of the requirement, only 52% had taken any steps to implement it.
Commenting on the research David Salusbury, Chairman of the NLA says: “Our research shows there is a lack of awareness among landlords about digital switchover. On the other hand, although many of the NLA members we questioned had not yet begun to make the necessary changes to their properties, they have plans in place to complete the switchover in the next three years.”
