As the London property market continues to thrive, local communities have been just as busy
It has been a fantastic summer for the UK property market with high levels of activity across the UK helping house prices rise in almost every part of the country.
In August, house prices in the UK rose by 2.1%, including record highs in some parts of London. A large part of what continues to make the capital so attractive to live in is the richness and diversity of its local communities. Ludlowthompson enjoys strong relationships with local residents, retail associations, schools and charities and is proud to have supported some great charity events so far this year.
Among the many initiatives to take place this summer was Friends of Finsbury Park’s appeal to raise funds for a new skatepark. Friends of Finsbury Park want to extend and improve the existing skatepark in Haringey so that it is a more safe and inclusive outdoor space for their local residents.
We have been in Finsbury Park since 2005 and are very proud to be based in such a great area. Finsbury Park has lots of independent shops and a thriving bar and restaurant scene that delights its local residents and visitors. Our Finsbury Park office on Blackstock Road was extensively refurbished last month as we celebrated our 28th anniversary.
#DulwichFestival went online for the second year, hosting an array of arts, music, talks and literature events that celebrated local talent. To support this event, ludlowthompson sponsored a podcast series on The Great Trees and Wildlife of Dulwich Park.
Schools act as a vital part of any community and, of course, also have a big bearing on house prices. We are fortunate to be based near a lot of great schools that hold many superb community projects. One of these was held by Tooting’s St Boniface RC Primary School which conducted a socially-distanced relay race all the way around Wandsworth in May. Another was Rutherford House School in Balham, which provided yearbooks for their Year 6 leavers so they had a memento to remember their schoolyears by.
Children in the Oval will benefit from the Triangle Adventure Playground’s water week and Play Streets, an initiative which enables residents to close their street for one day to provide safe spaces for children to play.
Stephen Ludlow, Chairman at ludlowthompson, says: “Supporting the local community has always been and remains a key focus for ludlowthompson.”
“Communities go a long way in making London such a fantastic city. This is reflected in the sustained high levels of activity in those local property markets that have a recurring programme of engaging events, driven both by young professionals and families alike.”

I recently sold my flat with the help of ludlowthompson Oval after initially being listed with another agent. The team regularly kept me up to date from early viewings all the way to completion.

I was shown two properties by the team at ludlowthompson Oval – they were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to answer all my questions. It was a very smooth process from the booking of the viewing right through to the viewing itself. I would highly recommend.
