The bathroom accounts for about two-thirds of domestic water, so here are a few tips for wise washing.
Do not leave your taps running whilst brushing teeth.
Fit a dual-flush toilet:
A family of four can save up to 40,000 litres of water per year with a top or front dual-flush button for the toilet.
Invest in an economy shower:
Showers are much more water-efficient than baths if they are relatively short and sweet. The average bath uses 80 litres; a power shower uses as much as 20 litres per minute which means that after five minutes it will use as much water as a bath.
Invest in A-rated appliances:
These use a lot less energy and much less water too. When you're buying a new dishwasher or washing machine you can check their water efficiency of all dishwasher and washing machines on the UK market at www.waterwise.org.uk
