London commuters adopt winning strategies in "The Battle of Waterloo"

Even with 10 platforms shut, London’s commuters have plenty of options open to them to get to work
With three weeks of closures at Waterloo until the end of August, many predicted commuter chaos at the country’s busiest train station.
But just days into the £800 million project, much of the disruption and frenzy that was feared with the major infrastructure works has not materialised.
Much of this can be put down to London’s world-class transport set-up. In years gone by, closure of nearly half of the 24 platforms at Waterloo would have caused more than just a headache for commuters. However, it is testament to the capital’s ever-expanding transport system (including 24-hour services on much of the tubes) that the extra commuter traffic has been handled relatively easily.
Whether you’re looking to buy, rent, or sell, this is a timely reminder of the quality of London’s transport. Whether it is by underground, overground, bus, bike, or water – residents have plenty of options for commuting and wider travel. When looking at potential properties, quick and easy access to transport links is key.
Stephen Ludlow, Chairman at ludlowthompson, comments: “It's a secret few commuters will readily acknowledge, but London’s transport network is quite rightly regarded as one of the best in the world.”
“In the past, London might have been hit hard by major works at a large terminal, but the underground and the rest of the network has held strong.”
“Thanks to the numerous options commuters have in both central and Greater London, and planned transport links such as the new Queen Elizabeth line (Crossrail) which will further strengthen the system, it ensures that London will long be an attractive place to live and a safe haven for property investment whether as a home owner or a BTL Landlord.”
