St Michael’s Arts Festival celebrates a variety of creative homegrown artists in Stockwell
In the first two weeks of October the community of Stockwell came together to enjoy the artistic displays presented at the annual St Michael’s Arts Festival which took place between the 3rd – 20th, sponsored by ludlowthompson.
Stockwell, where 20-year-old Vincent Van Gogh is known to have lived for a year, continues to be home to many of London’s emerging creative talent such as the British sculptor Emma Elliott.
The area has a great range of apartments, period town houses and affordable Georgian houses, some of which have been converted into flats. Stockwell’s attractive mix of property and excellent value for money is a huge draw for the area’s creative residents.
Stockwell is often described as having a strong community atmosphere, helped by events such as this. At ludlowthompson we are committed to the success of the festival, this year we had a number of boards up around the Stockwell area to promote the event.
On the 17th of October ludlowthompson held an Urban Prom, where all staff and offices came together for a musical celebration. Each office chose their own song to be played by the Brixton Chamber Orchestra. The winning song ‘September’ by Earth, Wind and Fire was chosen by the Wandsworth/Tooting offices, as a result they where awarded a piece of art from the festival to display in their office.
Stephen Ludlow, Chairman at ludlowthompson, says: “Stockwell has a vibrant culture and the St Michael’s Arts Festival is the perfect example of why so many people love calling Stockwell home.”
"The Urban Prom also a recognition of the ten years of service at ludlowthompson by Jibby Philip the Senior Letting Manager at Oval Lettings and Gemma Heaton Head of Property Services at Apex Park in Worcester.”
“Here at ludlowthompson we are always striving to invest in people, communities and initiatives that are working to make a difference.”
Matthew O’Keeffe, Creative Director for the Festival and Founder of The Brixton Chamber Orchestra says: “The St Michael's Arts Festival offers a larger range of activities than ever before, including some less usual offerings. This year we featured more events for children and families, including interactive film & music workshops and arts & crafts sessions.”
