Quicker, more reliable tube journeys add to improving commute options as major works complete
One of the main reasons many people are drawn to London is for the work opportunities it offers. Graduates, young professionals and senior executives all flock here from around the UK and overseas for its vibrant jobs market. Additionally, many come here for its thriving social and cultural scene. No matter what brings them to London however, all of them are looking for high quality rental properties to make their home.
Getting to work is set to become quicker and easier for many, now that several major underground upgrade projects have been completed. A suite of new air-conditioned trains is coming into service, increasing capacity on some lines, starting with the Piccadilly Line, by as much as 60%. Progress to extend the Northern Line is now also well underway, linking up more of south London to the tube network.
Along with other major transport infrastructure investments, such as the network of cycle superhighways which have been put in place across the capital. London now offers more, and better, options for commuters. Considering that recent research found that UK commuters spend up to five times as much of their salary as other Europeans on rail fares, it’s vital that they have an efficient and convenient tube service, and a range of other options such as cycling.
Stephen Ludlow, Chairman at ludlowthompson comments, “London is continually innovating - that’s what makes it such an attractive place to live and work - and transport should be no exception.”
“This major investment in tube upgrades, along with other important areas of progress such as the introduction of the Night Tube and Cycle Superhighways are providing renters with even more choice over where to live, as journey times are cut and services are extended.”
