Rave at Ikea

- Crazy but True Stories
Most of us would visit Ikea for furniture, home accessories or meat balls, not in the hope of joining a rave, which is exactly what happened at the Milton Keynes branch.
Shoppers got caught up in a Facebook arranged rave at the Ikea store last week which was held to pay tribute to the former nightclub, The Sanctuary.
The Sanctuary nighclub was bulldozed in 2004 to make way for the Iken store and former clubber Daniel Beale decided to arrange a reunion. Approximately 300 dancers turned up and started dancing and blowing whistles at a prearranged time, though Ikea put the number at 50.
Commenting facebook, Mr Beale wrote: I first stepped foot in the Sanctuary in '96 and went almost every weekend after. I think you guys made a good effort and much respect to all who turned up.
A spokesperson for Buckinghamshire Police, who where called to the event, said: "They wanted to go back to Ikea in Milton Keynes because where it is based used to be The Sanctuary nightclub."
I think you guys made a good effort and much respect to all who turned up.
