Annual festival moves online for 2020 with dance, literature, music and poetry events
St Michael’s Art Festival (SMAF) is set to take place from Saturday 17th to Sunday 25th October this year. The annual festival, which celebrates artistic talent in Stockwell, is moving online due to coronavirus restrictions.
A performance by groups from the Brixton Dance School, Longfield Hall and Stockwell Park Estate, celebrating global dance styles will kick off proceedings on Saturday 17th October at 4pm. Hosted at the Slade Gardens Adventure Playground, the event can be viewed on livestream here.
Events include in-conversations with local authors Natasha Randall and Isobel Rogers about their new books; a singalong for children with harpist, Keziah Thomas; a virtual poetry walk with historian Naomi Clifford and actor Roli Okorodudu and a Blues & Roots ensemble performance. Throughout the duration of the festival the Brixton Chamber Orchestra will be playing each day and an online art exhibition is taking place, featuring a number of local artists where all pieces are available for purchase.
There will also be competitions running throughout the week for children’s art and photography.

Stephen Ludlow, Chairman at ludlowthompson says: “St Michael’s Art Festival shines a light on the wealth of local talent in Stockwell every year. It’s great to see the festival continue to go from strength to strength in spite of coronavirus restrictions.”
“Community events such as this are part of what makes Stockwell a thriving cultural hub. The pandemic has had a devastating impact on the arts so we’re delighted to be able to help support local initiatives.”

We used ludlowthompson in Oval to sell our nearby flat. They were reasonably priced compared to other estate agents and the service was excellent. They achieved our asking price in the first week of selling and then provided a helpful 'chasing up' service during the transaction to keep things moving. I would 100% recommend using ludlowthompson.

I sold my property through ludlowthompson's Oval branch at the beginning of Clapham Road. Throughout the process, they were very professional in their dealings with me and ultimately helped me to achieve what I wanted. The manager demonstrated that she knew the market and helped in getting me what I was looking for in terms of price. She also made some good suggestions in terms of photos and advertising. The process was longer that I anticipated, but that was only due to a buyer inexplicably pulling out. Again LT helped me in terms of getting the property back on the market and finding me a new buyer (now the new owner) almost immediately. I would strongly recommend the Oval team to anyone in the area wishing to buy or sell!
