Record online traffic over Christmas period could attract more prospective buyers
The festive season is an ideal time to list a property, with data showing that traffic on property websites typically spikes over the Christmas period.
In January, Rightmove recorded 150 million visitors to its website in the days after Christmas. 32% of properties listed on the site in December were removed the next month suggesting that spikes in traffic are converting to sales.
Due to ongoing coronavirus-related restrictions, people are continuing to spend more time at home, and more time on the internet. Sky News reported that in the early days of the pandemic, internet users were spending an average of 4 hours and 2 minutes online each day.
The first lockdown in March caused a surge in the number of people looking to move. Properties with greater outdoor space and spare bedrooms that could be used as home offices were most in-demand when the market re-opened for viewings.
