The 2012 Olympics and the wait for student loans has meant some students have left it to Autumn to rent.
Many students are still looking for somewhere to rent in London, having put off their summer search until the autumn.
The delay has been caused by many students putting off the search for a rental property during the London Olympics, because they were concerned that the Games would push up rents.
Stephen Ludlow, Chairman of ludlowthompson, comments: "Many London students only cashed in their student loans a couple of weeks ago, and we've noticed a sudden scramble for rental properties. It's unusual to see so many students looking for properties after term time has already started.
"The early Autumn rush means that flat-hunting students need to be well prepared, in order to fend off the competition and secure a rental property that they want to live in for the next year."
