Landlords should list properties early as renters eye up London moves, don’t underestimate the magnetic draw of the capital!
This weekend, the clocks go forward and we officially enter British Summer Time, house-hunters have been acting quickly to make the most of the longer days by booking in viewings after work.
Latest search figures from Rightmove suggest renters are eyeing moves to Zone 1 & 2 in London, with searches doubling in parts of South and South West London.
The top 10 latest rental hotspots are all located in Zones 1 & 2. Last year, eight of the top 10 were outside of Zone 2. With workplaces expected to reopen in the coming months once the vaccine programme is fully rolled out, professionals will be moving closer to their places of work to cut down on commuting times through adaptable, sustainable and active travel plans.
The reopening of sectors of the economy such as hospitality, leisure and retail will also be instrumental in attracting young professionals to the capital.
Sellers and landlords should now be putting their properties on the market as viewings pick up in the longer evenings. This will help sellers move up the ladder and offer landlords greater certainty in their returns.
