Looking for a property to share with  you loved one is an exciting prospect, but remember not to let your heart rule your head, make sure the property ticks all your joint boxes and don't rush in.

Buying a property with a partner can seem financially astute, sharing mortgage, bills etc, but you are also sharing space so make sure you buy a property that will accommodate all your needs.  If one person works from home, room for an office is essential, if you have more than one car, does the property have parking.  These sort of questions are sometimes overlooked in the heat of finding a property.

Suzanne Gray, ludlowthompson's director of sales, says:  "It is imperative you agree with your partner exactly what your requirements are.  This will make the agents job easier and guarantee you don't waste time looking at unnecessary properties."

Making a list of requirements might seem a little pedestrian compared with the excitement of purchase, but it is essential if you want to ensure you have all the bases covered.
